This is Beech Hill - a beautiful hilltop overlooking the ocean and covered in blueberries. This spot is a 5 minute drive from my house. Actually if there were no trees my house would be visible.
I haven't been outside to paint for almost a year, but this place is irresistible especially on a warm afternoon.

This little painting was a lot of work for me. At first I was going to do separate paintings of the figures, then I decided I liked the disconnection of the three figures. I actually like it a lot and plan to do a larger version, but may do separate paintings of the two girls anyway for practice.

I wanted this painting to be less calculated and to have more fun with it. I'm still using my limited palette, and instead of feeling limited by it, I am enjoying it.

I am back to painting after getting settled in my new house. I am shop vac-ing the barn, the site of my new gallery. Otherwise I still would be breathing in 100 year old dust from trying to sweep. I'm psyched about it all! Still much to do... like painting - paintings. This is one of those paintings that started off with paper, but is left with very little showing. Regardless, the paper always helps and more times than not dictates my color choices. This painting was also done in a limited palette of Indian red, cad yellow, phthalo blue and titanium white.

My House

...and this is my new front door. Isn't she a beaut! I have been neglecting my paints and canvas (or boards) for a short spell. I drove from Fort Myers to Boston in two days - wouldn't recommend it. Grueling. Closed on my house 2 days later in Rockport Me. Cleaning it out. Scraping, scrubbing, painting. I plan to have my gallery in the barn ready to go by early summer, and eventually my studio in the barn as well. :)
